12 weeks, 2 days Belly Picture

What's going on inside there at 12 weeks? Baby Bitner's fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. He (or she) is about the size of a lime.

I bought my first pair of maternity pants last week. They are so much more comfortable than trying to zip my normal pants and pulling down my belly band constantly.

I've been making some Christmas treats; fudge and magic cookie bars. I'm so happy I finally feel well enough to eat them :) I can't help but think how our future Christmas' will completely revolve around our children. I know when they're babies they won't have a clue, but it will be so much fun when they understand the concept of opening presents. There was a jewelry commercial on tv where the mother is rocking a baby to sleep at 2am and the dad comes in and plugs in the Christmas tree. It's pretty cheesy but every time I see it I start crying. Wow, these hormones are crazy!

Thanksgiving & Week 10

We had a great Thanksgiving, celebrated with my family at my parents house. The food and company were wonderful. After leaving my parents, we headed back to our house to grab a few things and take care of the pets and then set out for James' parents. Had some leftovers for dinner and ended up staying at my in-laws to make it easier to get up early Friday morning for the shopping craziness while James hunted. I got some bargains and had fun hanging out with my mother in-law and James' cousin Colleen. Unfortunately James didn't get anything while hunting. I'm sure they had a good time hangin out and doing "guy stuff". Whatever that is...I assume it has something to do with grunting and scratching. This weekend, I was able to talk James into hanging LED icicle lights on the outside of our house. He also drug out all the Christmas decorations for me and we got a tree. The house looks so good, inside and out!

I'm at week 10. People keep asking if we've picked out names and if we've registered for stuff yet. Is it really time for all that? Seems a little early to me.

The nausea is subsiding. YAY! But the hormones are raging. BOO!

Here's what the baby looks like this week.

Why is it called morning sickness?!?

So in all seriousness, the nausea hasn't been horrible. I've only gotten sick once, but the nauseous feeling all the time is annoying!!! At least it means the baby is growing. I'm 9 weeks this week. Here's what BabyCenter.com has to say about the baby's stage of growth this week:

Your new resident is nearly an inch long — about the size of a grape — and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. She's starting to look more and more human. Her essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Other changes abound: Your baby's heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do her tiny teeth. The embryonic "tail" is completely gone. Your baby's organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. Her eyes are fully formed, but her eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. She has tiny earlobes, and her mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. The placenta is developed enough now to take over most of the critical job of producing hormones. Now that your baby's basic physiology is in place, she's poised for rapid weight gain.

The placenta is producing hormones...like I need more hormones right now. I'm sure James would agree :) And what's this about rapid weight gain? Am I going to get torpedo belly already? Help, Sarah!!!

Went to the doctor today for our first ultrasound. Everything looks good. Baby measured 6 weeks 6 days, is 0.91 cm long and has a heart rate of 113 bpm. So exciting to see Baby and hear the little heartbeat! Next appointment is 12/9.

6 weeks

I took a test on Saturday, October 24th and it was positive, yay! Within our first month of trying, we got pregnant. Never would have thought we'd be so lucky. Of course we told our families right away and a few friends. I went to the doctor on Wednesday, October 28th to meet with the medical history nurse. They took a blood and urine sample and asked me a million questions. My next appointment on Wednesday, November 11th will be to have my first ultrasound and Dr. Reed will be doing an exam. The ultrasound will be exciting, the exam not so much. I'm six weeks today. Due date is June 29th, 2010 :)
